Microneedling with exosomes vs PDRN: what is the difference?

A simple guide by Dr Adriana M. Ozery, Doctor Picasso, Limassol

Microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin that stimulate collagen and allow active ingredients to work deeper. What makes the biggest difference is what we apply during the treatment. Two of our most popular choices are exosomes and PDRN.

PDRN: repair and strengthen

PDRN (polynucleotides) is a purified ingredient derived from salmon DNA. It supports the skin’s natural repair, improves hydration and elasticity, and calms the skin. It is ideal for tired, thin or stressed skin, post-pregnancy skin, and as part of our acne scar treatment.

Exosomes: regenerate and glow

Exosomes are tiny messengers rich in growth factors that support regeneration, collagen production and healing. They are our most advanced microneedling option, ideal for fine lines, dullness, early laxity and anyone wanting a visible glow.

Which one should I choose?

As a simple guide: choose PDRN if your main goal is repair, hydration and strengthening the skin, and exosomes if you want maximum regeneration and glow. Both work best as a course of three sessions, three to four weeks apart, and can be done on the face, or face, neck and décolleté.

What about downtime?

Redness and mild sensitivity are normal for one to three days. Avoid makeup for 24–72 hours, avoid sun, saunas and intense exercise for 48 hours, and use SPF 50 and a repairing cream every day.
